At The Diener School, we offer Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy services to support students' individual needs through a collaborative push-in model. Therapists work directly with students within the classroom, providing support in both whole-group and small-group settings to enhance learning and development.

Occupational Therapy

The Diener School’s Occupational Therapy (OT) program helps students build the skills they need to thrive in and out of the classroom.

Areas of Focus

  • Sensory Integration – Regulating and responding to sensory input.
  • Fine & Visual Motor Skills – Building coordination for tasks like writing and cutting.
  • Gross Motor Coordination – Strengthening balance, body awareness, and movement skills.
  • Classroom Accommodations & Modifications – Adapting tools, methods, and environments for student success.

Our program includes individualized sensory diets, movement breaks, The Zones of Regulation®, fine motor activities, and Handwriting Without Tears®. Through structured activities, practical strategies, and collaboration, our OT program fosters independence, confidence, and lifelong skills.

At The Diener School, our Speech Therapy program nurtures the communication skills that empower students to connect, collaborate, and thrive.

Our services target a broad range of areas, including social-emotional development, pragmatic language, expressive and receptive language, play skills, and comprehension.

We integrate the Social Thinking® methodology throughout our program, a research-based approach that builds social problem-solving abilities, cognitive flexibility, and perspective-taking skills.

Speech therapy is seamlessly woven into the school day through close collaboration with classroom teachers, ensuring unity and generalization of skills across settings. Students are thoughtfully grouped to foster social-emotional growth and engage in facilitated social skills instruction during teachable moments.

Vocabulary development and comprehension strategies are woven into every lesson, fostering an environment where communication skills grow hand-in-hand with academic and personal development. Through the Visualizing and Verbalizing® (V/V®) program, students build concept imagery, which serves as a foundation for deep comprehension and higher-level thinking. Strengthening this skill enhances reading and listening comprehension, memory, oral vocabulary, critical thinking, and written expression.
