Middle School Special Education Lead Teacher
Job Description
The mission of the Diener School is to teach through experience, stimulate academically, prepare socially, and create a successful educational journey that motivates minds and inspires capabilities for a lifetime.
We are currently seeking a Special Education Lead Teacher, serving students in 5th grade through 8th grade, for the 2023-2024 school year.
Our students have a wide range of abilities. Many of them have several challenges that impact learning including:
- Learning Disabilities
- ADD or ADHD
- Language Delays (expressive, receptive, and processing)
- Sensory Processing Disorders
- Executive Functioning Challenges
- Social Pragmatic and Social Communication Disorders
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or Education. Master's degree is preferred. Job responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with teaching partner in the areas of classroom design, classroom management
- Responsible for multi-sensory lesson planning and implementation, report writing, and data gathering
- Communication and collaboration with administration, staff, therapists, and families
- Demonstrate professional flexibility, a growth mindset, optimism, and a sense of humor
- Demonstrate initiative, confidence, and joy in aspects of work and in front of teaching partner, other colleagues, parents, and students
- Demonstrate an ability and willingness to collaborate with teaching partner
- Implementing behavioral programs and sensory diets
- Frequently discuss and reflect on teaching partnership as it relates to professional work and professional growth
- Demonstrate a commitment to team work
- Communicate effectively and efficiently with teaching partner on all aspects of the position, including student progress and information

Board Certified Behavior Analyst (10-month position)
Job Description

We are currently seeking a full-time Board-Certified Behavior Analyst for 2023-2024 school year.
Our students have a wide range of abilities. Many of them have several challenges that impact learning including:
- Learning Disabilities
- ADD or ADHD
- Anxiety Disorders
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Language Delays (expressive, receptive, and processing)
- Sensory Processing Disorders
- Executive Functioning Challenges
- Social Pragmatic and Social Communication Disorders
BCBA Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities:
- Provide ongoing support for students, Kindergarten through 8th grade
- Conduct functional behavior assessments
- Develop and manage behavior intervention plans, including coordinating these plans with Diener administration, staff, and occasionally with families.
- Write and maintain positive behavior support plans
- Oversee assessments, plan development, and ongoing program data analysis to ensure maximum student progress
- Clinically supervise Diener’s Behavior Assistants
- Oversee supervision for BCBA trainees accruing hours
- Attend weekly behavior meetings
- Develop and conduct staff and parent trainings as needed
- Remain current on new research and developments in behavior analysis
- Develop and manage data collection systems
- Assist with the training and orientation of teachers, support staff and other service personnel
- Participate in various IEP meetings
- Assist in communication with families and outside professionals
- Work independently and as a team member, making sound judgments and decisions in collaboration with Diener’s education program leaders, and effectively prioritizing work assignments.
- Oversee and maintain Diener-wide reinforcement systems
- Collaboration with Diener Specialists to integrate behavior analytic principles with the academic and therapeutic curriculums used by Diener – Language for Learning, Social Thinking, Zones of Regulation, Accept Identify Move (AIM)
- Organize and communicate work-related information to families and staff, in person, on the telephone, and through electronic communication.
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)
- Master’s Degree in behavior analysis, psychology, or related discipline preferred.
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification.
- Maryland State Licensure (LBA) – needed to practice in the state of MD
- A minimum of two years of proven successful experience in implementing, designing, and overseeing behavior analysis services for students with learning differences.
- Ability to communicate with and provide direct assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities who are having behavioral challenges.
